Children's Ministries

FUMCD believes the involvement of children in the life of our church helps them grow in their faith.

Our goal is to provide a safe place for children to learn and experience God throughout their childhood.  Our church vows make it clear that we as a congregation will work together to support and nurture the Christian faith of children.  To reach this goal we offer many different opportunities to guide their spiritual formation.

Contact the church office at 972-298-6121 to reach Shelley Hemphill, Children's Program Director. Shelley can also be reached via cell phone at 972.816.4882 or via email at shelley68@aircanopy.net.

Sunday School

Sunday School
Graded classes are provided for children beginning at age three and continuing through sixth grade.  Groupings are based on September 1 of the current year or on placement in school. For children with special educational needs, please contact the church office. All classes for children are located in the Wesley Building and Asbury Building.

Confirmation

Confirmation
This is a significant moment in the faith journey. It is a time to assist young people as they explore what it means to participate in a relationship with God, what it means to be a Christian, and what it means to be a member of the United Methodist Church. Confirmation involves parents, family members, Sunday School teachers, youth leaders, pastors, and other members of the congregation who seek to help youth learn and grow in faith.

Childcare & Nursery

A nursery is located in the lower level of the Wesley Building and provided for most church activities. Beepers are issued to parents leaving infants and they will be notified if there is a problem with their child through the beepers. The nursery cares for children birth to 2 years old during Sunday School and birth to 3 years old during Worship.

Acolytes

Children ages 3rd-6th grade serve as acolytes. Contact the church office at (972)298-6121.
