Permanent Endowment Fund

FUMC of Duncanville
Permanent Endowment Fund
$1,114 Granted During 2010

Contributions given to the Endowment Fund are invested
and only the earnings on the invested funds are used for
the life of our Church. As such, with the economic times

such as the last couple of years, the value of the invested
funds was actually lower than the original contributions and
therefore no funds in the past couple of years were available for
grants in support of Church activities. However, during 2009
the market recovered sufficiently such that the value of the
Endowment Fund at year end exceeded the original contributions
by $1,114. The Endowment Committee, in 2010, granted $898 for

the purchase of an oven, plus pots and pans, for 414 and

reinvested $167 back into the endowment fund.

Total contributions to the Endowment Fund now stand
at $532,667.63 which is composed of $189,450 in designated
funds and the balance in the general fund. The general funds are
invested through Texas Methodist Foundation in both equity and
interest bearing accounts and produce the earnings each year
from which grants can be made. The designated funds are currently
in two parts, 1) the Vergie Mae Fite Fund - which designates
that monthly earnings go to the operating budget of the
Church and 2) the Zelda Johnston Music Scholarship Fund - which

designates that earnings will go to a music scholarship.

When you wish to honor someone or give a gift in memory
of someone, consider designating that gift to the Endowment
Fund in honor or memory of the person or group. Such a gift
will generate earnings that will fund projects and needs of First
United Methodist Church Duncanville year after year into the
future. Also, if you have not already done so, consider including
the Endowment Fund in your estate planning. A tithe from your
estate (10%, 25%, etc.) could produce financial support for God's
work for many years beyond your lifetime. Perhaps you have
just received an inheritance, or soon will receive one, and you
would like to honor your family member by giving a portion to
do God's work in the future. If you would like to pursue a gift,
please contact a member of the Endowment Committee and/or
the Church office.

The Endowment Fund of the First United Methodist
Church is administered by the Endowment Fund Committee
which is elected annually by the Charge Conference. The committee
is composed of six members elected at large plus five adhoc
members.
