Sanctuary

In 1988 as worship attendance increased, the need for a new sanctuary was evident. Fund raising began and the ground breaking took place October 30, 1994. The dream was realized on March 24, 1996 as we moved into a new 900 seat sanctuary, with a 70 seat choir loft, 2,300 square foot narthex and 2,300 square foot choir rehearsal hall.

Sanctuary

Aldersgate Fellowship Hall

After moving into the new sanctuary in 1996, work began on remodeling the old sanctuary into a 6,000 square foot bi-level fellowship hall plus a new 750 square foot commercially equipped kitchen.

Meetings, Bible studies, wedding receptions, family reunions, all-church events, dinners, sock hops, children’s activities, and dramatic and musical presentations all take place in this multi-purpose facility.

Wesley Building

The Wesley Building is the site of most of our PreSchool classrooms in The Methodist School during the week and children and some adult Sunday School classrooms, with the exception of 3-year olds and nurseries, which are upstairs at the 9:45 Sunday School hour.

Chapel

This Chapel was dedicated on June 29, 1985 with beautiful stained glass windows representing the nativity, the New Jerusalem, Pentecost, along with women of Methodist history. Greek marble from the quarry that was used in the Parthenon and Marrs Hill and olive wood shipped from Israel were used for the chancel area. The chapel was built as a memorial to the women of Methodism.

The Chapel is used for small funerals and weddings, children’s chapel, communion, worship services, and prayer vigils.

Alexander Youth Center

November 17, 1974, the S. Gus Alexander, Jr. United Methodist Youth Center was dedicated. Lieutenant Alexander, a life-long member of FUMC Duncanville, was killed while serving his country in Viet Nam.

The Youth Center contains a gymnasium, snack bar, library, rec room for youth as well as youth and adult Sunday school classrooms.
