Purpose/Mission Statement

Our purpose is to provide a planned program for children appropriate to their age and within a Christian environment. Experiences are provided that meet children's needs and inspire learning in all developmental areas - physical, social, emotional, and intellectual.

Many varied learning opportunities will be provided for the children that will stimulate and enrich their individual growth. We encourage not just learning, but the love of learning.

Our mission at First Methodist School is to expose children to many different experiences that promote success in life!

Introduction

In our school, a child will be learning many things. Among them are to:

Get along with other children and adults.

Improve physical skills and coordination.

Share - time, toys, and attentions.

Hear and respond to music.

Be introduced to beginning Spanish

Experiment with many art materials, using his/her own body and feelings to produce something satisfactory to him/herself.

Gain new security and independence in the world outside his/her home.

Discover many people who contribute to his/her own well-being and find ways to contribute to others.

Play a lot, because play is his/her work. Play is the way children learn best, and we provide equipment and guidance for optimum learning experiences in the child's world.

Enrollment

Admission is open to children of all races, nationalities, religious, and economic backgrounds. We enroll on a first come first served basis with preference given to children currently in our School and their siblings.

In order to secure enrollment space, a registration deposit is required. The enrollment fee is not refundable. A child is considered enrolled in the program once his/her registration form has been completed and the enrollment fee has been paid.

Programs Available

See the enrollment page

Discipline

Discipline and guidance shall be consistent and based on an understanding of the child's needs and development. The school will promote self-discipline and acceptable behavior. There will be no cruel, harsh, or unusual punishment. Good behavior will be recognized and encouraged.

Extras

Preschool children go to a short Chapel service on Thursday or Friday of each week. They also go to Music and Spanish each week. Some of the Preschool classes go to the gym for gross motor skill development once each week and everyone goes to the playground, (weather permitting).

The Kindergarten and Preschool children present a program at the close of school along with Kindergarten graduation (not the 1 & 2 year old classes). An open house will be held in February or March.

A computer is available in most classrooms. Our computer teacher will work with Kindergarten, five day four year olds, and Tuesday/Thursday 3 & 4 year old classes in the computer lab.
