First United Methodist Church Duncanville believes that involvement in the life of our church helps you grow in your faith. Our goal is to provide an encouraging and inclusive place for anyone to learn and experience God through all walks of life. Our church vows to make it clear that we as a congregation will work together to support and nurture the Christian faith to all.To reach this goal we offer many different opportunities to guide your spiritual formation.

  • United Women of Faith

    Meets as a unit monthly and has three circles. Focus is on providing opportunities to grow spiritually, equipping women of all ages to be leaders, providing transformative educational experiences, organizing for growth and flexibility, supporting mission efforts, and working for justice and social issues through service and advocacy.

  • United Methodist Men

    UMM’s mission is to grow men spiritually and help them mature as disciples by encouraging spiritual formation in others through faith and service

  • Covenant Gardens and Park

    Meets as a unit monthly and has three circles. Focus is on providing opportunities to grow spiritually, equipping women of all ages to be leaders, providing transformative educational experiences, organizing for growth and flexibility, supporting mission efforts, and working for justice and social issues through service and advocacy.

  • Active Adult Ministries

    Special events are offered monthly for retired persons and those over age 50.

Music

"Come let us sing for joy to the Lord. Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation. Come before His presence with thanksgiving and extol Him with the music and song."

Music is an active and exciting part in the life of First United Methodist Church, and there is a place for you in our Ministry of Music. Singing in a choir, no matter your age, creates community, and can help each person develop in their spiritual journey. These groups offer fellowship and friendships while creating music for the glory of God. We have offerings for all ages, and welcome you to contribute to our worship. The purpose of the Music Ministry is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ through music and song, encourage believers in their walk with Christ, lead the congregation in worship and provide an avenue through which individuals may share their gifts and be an integral part of the worship experience.

Chancel Choir

Rehearsal Times: 7:00pm Wednesday and 10:00am Sunday

The Chancel Choir of FUMC Duncanville consists of adult men and women and sings sacred choral literature from a variety of genres, classical to contemporary. Everyone is welcome to take part in this ensemble which currently ministers in the 10:30am service.

 

Handbell Choir

Rehearsal Times: 6:00pm Wednesday

The Handbell Choir of FUMCDuncanville consists of both young people and adults and is open to new as well as seasoned ringers. This ensemble performs a 3-4 octave set of handbells in Sunday worship services periodically as well as for special events and concerts throughout the year.
